Élém. tiré du subst. toxine, entrant dans la constr. de subst. sav. en méd.; le 1er élém. est un élém. formant tiré du gr. ou un préf. indiquant l'orig. de production d'une toxine, son type ou son terrain d'action. V. anatoxine, antitoxine, autotoxine, cytotoxine, endotoxine (s.v. end(o)-), exotoxine (s.v. ex(o)-), hypnotoxine (s.v. hypn(o)-), neurotoxine (s.v. neur(o)-) et aussi:
mycotoxine, subst. fém. ,,Toxine élaborée par un champignon microscopique`` (Méd. Flamm. 1975).
phytotoxine, subst. fém. ,,Toute substance végétale qui, introduite dans un organisme animal, se comporte comme un antigène en déterminant la formation d'anticorps responsables d'accidents toxiques`` (Méd. Biol. t. 3 1972).
Rem. Les mots constr. avec -toxine sont toujours soudés. Élém. assez productif, toujours vivant.
